This coin was struck in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the granting of a charter to the city of Albany.  It features New York's State Animal, the beaver, chewing a maple branch on the obverse while the reverse celebrates the agreement between Governor Thomas Dongan, Peter Schuyler and Robert Livingston of a municipality charter being granted to Albany.
