Crafted in .925 silver, this large medal was created to commemorate the coronation of Edward VII in 1902, following the passing of his mother, Queen Victoria, in 1901. The obverse features a crowned portrait of Edward VII in his coronation attire, meticulously engraved by George William de Saulles. De Saulles also designed the coinage portrait of Edward VII, the sole portrait used on his currency from 1902 until his death in 1910. On the reverse, Edward's wife Alexandra of Denmark is depicted crowned, veiled, and draped, also by de Saulles. This example is presented in its original leather and velvet box.
