Rare Bache 50 oz .999 Silver Bar

Bache bars hearken directly back to the Hunt brothers attempt to corner the silver market. The Hunt's had invested heavily in silver futures, notably from the investment firm of Bache Halsey Stuart Shield. When Comex set the Silver Rule 7 limiting the purchase of commodities on margin, Bache (later Prudential-Bache) issued a margin call for $100 million and the Hunts came up short. A consortium of banks bailed out the Hunts and Bache did end up getting paid.

This is a very modest premium compared to previous sales of this bar.
