1928 $500 Federal Reserve Note, Chicago District - Fr. 2200-G - Very Fine

Pleasing note with solid paper and two fine pinholes, and no tears. This note has two trace rust stains on the reverse upper margin.

The Chicago district printed 573,600 notes for the 1928 Series $500. The 1928 continues to be the most popular of the small-size $500 due, of course, to the gold clause which reads:

"REDEEMABLE IN GOLD ON DEMAND AT THE UNITED STATES TREASURY OR IN GOLD OR LAWFUL MONEY AT ANY FEDERAL RESERVE BANK"

This note is currently encapsulated in a hard plastic currency display board. It can be removed upon request.
